Hutovo Blato, a habitat to hundreds of plant and animal species, has been well known since the ancient times. Following the World War II, the region was protected, initially as an elite hunting ground and later declared a bird reserve.
Blidinje Park was named after the Blidinje Lake nested at the base of the Long Plain (Dugo polje) at 1,184 meters above the sea level. The lake spans 6 square kilometers. Majority of the water flowing into the lake comes from snowmelt that drains from the mountains Vrana and Cvrsnica.
Una National Park is defined by the unspoiled river that runs through it. Just an hour from Zagreb, the Una offers crystal clear water and world class river rafting.The River Una’s stunning waterfalls and white water rapids highlight Bosnia and Herzegovina’s newest National Park. The most famous waterfalls are those at Martin Brod, where the popular International Una Regatta, a kayaking competition, begins.
This wild national park contains one Europe’s last primeval forests, secluded waterfalls, mountain lakes and wildlife such as bear, wolf and eagles.Sutjeska National Park is a wild and majestic reminder of what ancient Europe once looked like.
Just half an hour from the urban bustle of Banja Luka, this wild park offers visitors walking, hiking and biking paths and the opportunity to pick wild herbs. The dense forests of Kozara offer the chance to see wild boar, wolves and wild cats.
